New Trends in Orthodontics

Orthodontics
Vista Dental Care and Specialty Center practices orthodontics in order to give patients the gorgeous straight smile they have always dreamed of.  We offer the latest options and stay up to date on industry trends in order to give our patients choices in how they want to straighten their teeth.  While the goal is always the same, by giving patients control they can select the option that works within their schedule and fits their lifestyle.
Here are some of the options we provide patients with.
Six Month Smiles©
This innovative procedure is revolutionary for orthodontics.  It is ideal for patients, especially adults that do not want to wear traditional braces and are looking for a quick way to straighten their teeth.  With Six Month Smiles, patients wear clear braces that are less noticeable and therefore more comfortable for many of our patients.  The procedure is geared towards adults so call our office to see if it is right for you.
Traditional Braces
There are times where traditional braces are still the best option for correcting a smile.  Traditional metal braces can correct common problems such as:
·         Severe overbites.  This is unattractive and can cause problems with speech and even eating.  Metal braces can be used to correct your overbite and give you a beautiful smile.
·         Problems with your jaw.   When your jaw is misaligned or out of place, it can cause headaches and pain.  Braces can align your jaw and prevent you from experiencing those symptoms.
·         Crossbite.  When your upper teeth bite inside of the lower teeth, it is a crossbite.  This is uncomfortable and interferes with normal eating patterns.
·         Overcrowding.  Sometimes people need to have their pallet expanded to make room for all of their teeth.  Overcrowding is a common issue that can be corrected with traditional braces.
Technology continues to improve, making it easier to wear braces and making them more effective.  Traditional metal braces can solve the largest amount of problems and go far beyond the cosmetic side of straightening teeth.  This traditional orthodontics procedure is ideal for patients that need to address issues with their bite while straightening teeth.
Invisalign
Patients that want to close gaps in their teeth and fix more minor cosmetic issues should consider Invisalign.  This is an ideal option for busy professionals and people that may have had braces as a child and need to have some minor issues corrected again.  The process is fairly simple and requires fewer trips to the orthodontist.  A mold is taken of your mouth, and custom aligners are created in order to straighten your teeth in a gradual fashion.  The aligners look like a full, clear retainer, and you simply switch them out every couple of weeks.  As you place a new one in your mouth, your teeth will become that much straighter.

We offer the latest in orthodontics in order to provide our patients with options, flexibility, and control over how they want to fix their teeth.  As an expert cosmetic dentist, we can also correct other problems like cracked or chipped teeth.  Call us today to schedule your consultation and to learn how we can transform your smile.

Dental Veneers Can Correct a Chipped or Uneven Tooth

Dental Veneers
As a cosmetic dentist, we use dental veneers to solve a variety of dental problems.  Patients can use them to correct a chipped or uneven tooth and even to close gaps in between teeth.  They are natural looking and extremely versatile, making them an ideal option for patients of all ages.
Fixing your teeth after an accident.
If you have been in a car accident or had a sports injury, your tooth may have become cracked or chipped.  This is fairly common, and millions of people are in accidents every year.  In order to protect your teeth, you should have regular teeth cleanings, brush and floss daily, and use a fluoride toothpaste.  This will strengthen your teeth so that they are less likely to undergo a major injury during an accident.  The goal is to keep your teeth as strong and as healthy as possible so that when an accident does happen, the resulting injury is minor enough to allow you to keep your tooth.
When you schedule an appointment with our family dentist office we will examine your damaged tooth, the gums that surround it and the teeth nearby.  When your tooth becomes damaged the area around, it may also become impacted. It is important to identify all of the damage that has occurred before going forward with a plan to correct it.  Many times we will recommend dental veneers to fix the problem.
Veneers can be used for many things including correcting a chipped or cracked tooth.  They can also be used to close gaps in your teeth and make your teeth even.  The process of having veneers placed is easier than you may think.  They are a synthetic front that is placed on top of your existing tooth.  Your natural tooth and root system remains which makes the process faster than having a dental implant installed.
If veneers are the best option for correcting your damaged tooth, we will take a mold of your mouth and have the lab create a veneer that is perfectly matched in both size and shape to your existing tooth. This will ensure that your veneer will look like your natural tooth, and no one will know that it was ever damaged.  You may also want to do the surrounding teeth at the same time in order to cover up stains or correct any cosmetic issues that have been bothering you.

On the day that your dental veneers are placed we will file down your teeth to make sure that sure that the veneer will lay flat and in line with your gums.  This is extremely important and the reason why you should work with an experienced cosmetic dentist.  Grooves will also be placed onto the surface of your tooth to ensure that the cement glue doesn’t slide off.  Your completed veneer will be placed on top and bonded to your existing tooth.  Once secure you will be able to go home and enjoy your beautiful smile.
